Look what I made!

This is what I made with the black piece of leather remnant:

It is a mini field book! It has a little pouch too for maybe a soil sample, petals, a few coins, whatever xD
Most importantly, I am now done with a stack of 12 mini notepads. I am working now on another leather cover. It is different in color and style than this one.
I am going to make a lot of these. I want to give one to all my D&D party members. That way they can sketch or take notes during their adventures :D
And the best part: it is free and they get to keep it ^-^

I got these:
I will work on it today :3

Props

I dug out my craft box. In my box there's all sorts of different things I can use to create props for D&D. I found some really cool things in my dungeon master's guide book that I'd like to try to make a model or replica of. I will try to make them convincing ><!!!!

Here are some leather remnants I have found!

The table is going to be used a lot in the next few hours hehe >:D
CRAFT TIME!!!! ^^

Wanted!!!!!

Here is a little preview of what I will use (but with further detail added later on) in a session :D I drew it meself!! xD
It is supposed to look like a sign  that will be hanging up in a tavern or inn somewhere. It would be filled with more information and an image of the criminal or whoever hehe ^^

Not How I Expected ...

Ugh.
Okay, so yesterday I spent about 7 hours straight cleaning and rearranging the livingroom and the adjacent room and realized that my drawn out floorplan was not working.
I guesstimated measurements wrongly, which is why the couches just didnt fit right in the position I'd have liked them to be.
On the positive side: the livingroom is better than the previous plan!
It feels more open now, and my sister came over yesterday evening to drop off some things (clothes for me to fix for her, kettle corn :o~~) and she said the room seems much bigger now ^^

I WIN!

Happy happy happy happy! I pulled out the folding table, had David, my boyfriend, roll a couple times, get the feel of the space, and it's a 10 out of 10 !!!

I got to admit, was feeling kinda down this year because finding friends with the same interests as myself in Yakima has been harder than I thought.
Hopefully, with my blogs, I will be able to meet some fun, unique gamers out there who are interested in hanging out, too!
^^
Oh ya, here is the livingroom layout (I don't have the folding table out now, only when I am working on D&D stuffs)

Le Weezards of Le Coasteses

I just created a Wizards of the Coast page.
I hope this attracts more people from our area!!! XD
Here it is:

NOTE: It kinda has the same stuff found here, or links to some posts from here (if it is too much of a hassle to repost with lots of images).

Battle Grid Idea

I was brainstorming last night and came up with an awesome idea for a grid for fights or whatnot. I knew I wanted it to be reusable, something that would not be easily ruined or smudged and big enough for a group to see what is going on.
I came up with this idea:

  • Buy a large piece of sturdy felt, about 3'x4' and light colored.
  • Sew grid lines (at least 1" apart) horizontally and vertically on the whole piece.
  • Iron on a few layers of interfacing to give the felt more durability.

I know I want to hang it on the wall, so everyone in a group can see it, although I am sure I can think of something like eyelet holes or whatever... hm....
It just may be sturdy/firm enough to actually put on a table top without the worry of draping or wrinkling up, especially if I iron on thick interfacing or several thinner layers :o
I'm sure I will experiment on smaller swatches first xD

Ideas for the player's characters, monsters, and NPCs include the following backed with a little velcro to make them stick to the felt grid:

  • Letters or Numbers cut out from felt, cardstock, foam, etc.
  • Have each character create a coat of arms to identify their characters.
  • Inexpensive trinkets, maybe light plastic or similar.
Trying to keep it inexpensive, functional, and personalized by the players is my main focus for the grid pieces :)

Starting out

First, I would like to say a big "Hello ^^" to anyone who stops by.
I know right now I don't have anything really up yet but I will be working on some drawings and ideas this weekend while I am out of town.

Originally, I would play Dungeons & Dragons with my friends when I lived in Seattle but then I had to move back here to Yakima. I was very disappointed when I realized my search for a Yakima based D&D group was futile. I tried Google, naturally, and found the results to be a pain to sift through to find anything of importance. I also tried a website that was specifically for finding D&D groups near the user's location. I believe my result for the search ended up being Renton, Washington....like a four hour drive away >:/
I convinced a friend and my brother to play D&D with me frequently, and being there were only three of us, and I being the Dungeon Master, I also had to create several traveling companions for their characters to keep some fun and interest in our little group. DMing is fun to me because I have played as a character in another DMs group and had a blast doing so but I also love creating worlds, characters, and stories, and in turn this creative drive is what leans my personality towards the role of DM.
Recently this year, actually, I think it was last month, I did find something for D&D in Yakima on a Facebook page, but the owner of the page didn't keep it updated and the most hope I found was a person who commented on that page this year (2013), which in turn gave me the idea of starting a blog that is going to be focused on a few things:
  1. This will be a place where I can post my sketches and ideas for a Dungeons and Dragons session (if the gods would be so kind to let this come to be >.<)
  2. By keeping this page updated a few times a week, I hope to draw out some interested D&D fans who reside in Yakima or nearby (Selah, Terrace Heights, West Valley, etc.) that might want to exchange ideas, advice, and such.
  3. If this page works how I plan it to, I would like to make friends who would like to meet up and get a session (or several) started in Yakima.
In the event that we get a group of interested & interesting people coming together to have a go at some D&D, I would take care of snacks and refreshments. Papa Murphy's is pretty much across the street and Safeway is a short drive away, so nomnoms and beverages are totally taken care of! If anyone has an allergy or food intolerance, I would be more than happy to accommodate you. ^^

I currently live with my boyfriend and we have a love seat, couch, computer chair and a plain, uncomfortable, racking, crappy wooden chair that every serious gamer has in their home yet nobody likes to sit in... EVAR!
Lonely wooden chair is lonely xD
Anyways, I figure with two butts on the love seat, four on the big couch, and there's the other two chairs, that this is ample seating for many!

Ah, yes about surfaces:
We have a folding table in our spare room that is the best choice for sessions. It is in good condition and does have rolling room, space for writing, maps, snacks, drinking cups, etc ^^

Our home has A/C and I know Yakima can get unbearable in the warmer months. We keep it on almost 24/7 to beat the heat, so that is a plus :3
I do try to keep our place clean, and smelling better than a sweaty booty but my boyfriend and I tend to have scattered books, binders, guitars, and random stuffs so I will try to get that straightened up and all in the next few weeks. That reminds me, I need to pick up some Febreeze ><!!
If you want to know more about me, click my profile information somewhere on this page ha ha. Thank you for reading this and I hope you will return very soon :O!!!!
